Up seven runs with seven outs to go, the Tampa Bay Rays blow their first chance at the big dance.
Bad baseball, or was something else in play here?
Baseball fans and players are notoriously superstitious.
Most starting pitchers, for instance, won't talk to the media the day of their starts. The Rays' Matt Garza won't talk to the media the day before his starts.
Publix is selling a baseball emblazoned with the Rays logo on one side and the World Series logo on the other.
Pretty neat.
One problem.
The balls went on sale before Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
And the Boston Red Sox, on the brink of elimination, are still alive for Game 6.
