THE DIFFERENCE: The Newsome defense shut down the Riverview offense, limiting the Sharks to less than 150 yards of total offense behind seven sacks and four turnovers. Defensive lineman Sean Pradia ended the scoring by returning an interception 48 yards in the fourth quarter.
GAME NOTES: Both teams struggled in the first quarter as neither team came away with any points. ... Newsome senior Kyle Copack played quarterback and free safety positions as well as punted and returned punts for the Wolves. ... Sophomore running back Conner Powers carried the load for the Wolves, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns. ... The Sharks went with a rotating quarterback system, but both Jarid Heffers and Kenyatta Strachen struggled to move the Sharks offense. ... The Sharks' longest gain of the night came late in the fourth when Ronnie Johnson ran 28 yards on a fake punt. ... Newsome kicker Tony Zaccario was 1-for-2 on field goal attempts, including a 41-yarder to open the scoring.
STAT OF THE GAME: The Sharks were their own worst enemy by committing 11 penalties that were accepted while having several others declined.
