TAMPA - Two men are accused of pounding on a taxicab and threatening to harm the cab driver after they were cut off in traffic, affidavits state.
Rumildo Cruz-Rodriguez, 22, and Santel Cruz, 19, both of Tampa, are charged with misdemeanor assault, jail records show.
Both were being held without bail today at the Orient Road Jail because the arrest violates their felony probation in another case, records show.
The affidavits do not say whether Cruz-Rodriguez and Cruz are related.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested the men shortly before midnight Friday at North Falkenburg Road and Broadway Avenue in the Brandon area.
A deputy saw the men pounding on the cab's windows and heard them demanding money, the affidavits state. There was a passenger in the cab at the time. The affidavits do not identify the cab driver or the passenger.
The cab driver attempted to drive away, but Cruz-Rodriguez opened the door of the cab and threatened to beat the driver, the affidavits state.
The men were intoxicated and "angry because the victim cut them off in traffic," the affidavits state.
