BRADENTON – Three men who sold $1,100 worth of what was believed to be heroin to an undercover detective led authorities on a 45-minute pursuit Thursday night.
Miguel A. Salamanca, 19, was arrested on charges of sale of a fraudulent substance, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing to elude and resisting without violence.
A Manatee Sheriff's detective set up a controlled buy of $1,100 worth of heroin around 9 p.m. Thursday near Garden Walk apartments, 3223 3rd St. W., according to a Sheriff's report released Friday.
The detective met with Salamanca and obtained the substance, which later did not test positive for heroin, the report indicated.
When Salamanca and two other men in his vehicle attempted to leave, they sideswiped an unmarked patrol vehicle and drove off, beginning a 45-minute pursuit.
Salamanca stopped in the 2500 block of 16th Street East and ran from the car before a police dog caught up to him, according to a Sheriff's report.
The money used for the controlled buy of the heroin was in Salamanca's pocket, deputies reported. A .38-caliber revolver thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit was also recovered.
