LAND O' LAKES - A 28-year-old Tarpon Springs man was arrested Thursday, accused of beating to death his roommate in September.
Nick Seriganis, of 209 N. Ring Ave., was arrested while already in jail on unrelated charges. On Wednesday, Pasco Circuit Judge Thane Covert signed a first-degree murder warrant, accusing Seriganis of killing Vincent "Vince" Santoro III on Sept. 15.
The body of the 24-year-old man was found by relatives in his Holiday Lake Estates home at 3626 Brompton Drive.
Detectives say the men were roommates and were arguing when Seriganis struck Santoro in the head with a 20-pound dumbbell.
The pair met in prison, Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Doug Tobin said.
According to Florida Department of Corrections records, they served time together at a minimum security prison for part of 2006 and early 2007. Santoro did time for sale and manufacturing of marijuana and Seriganis served time on several burglary charges.
