Woman Accused Of Striking Man With Hammer In Robbery

TAMPA - A 46-year-old woman was arrested this morning on charges she struck a man in the head with a hammer at her apartment while taking his wallet from him, according to Hillsborough County jail records.
Fonda E. Lofton was charged with armed robbery, according to an arrest affidavit. She was being held without bail at the Orient Road Jail.
At 6:30 a.m. today, Lofton was at her apartment at 9702 14th St. N. in Tampa when she took the wallet, which contained $100, the affidavit says. The wallet, with the man's identification still in it, was later found in Lofton's bedroom, the affidavit says.
The man suffered a laceration on the right side of his head, the affidavit states. No other information was available.
