TAMPA - Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews were fighting a smoky, three-alarm blaze at a warehouse Sunday.
Fire officials said heavy smoke was reported about 3 p.m. at the Stephen Gould packaging company at 5132 Tampa West Blvd., off Anderson Road.
Overhead sprinklers contained the blaze, but more than a dozen rescue vehicles and 40 personnel were called to the scene because of the potential for a damaging fire, Capt. Bruce Delk said.
Crews spent much of the time ventilating the space. They opened overhead doors at a loading dock and a skylight to allow smoke to escape. The warehouse was filled with stacks of cardboard boxes and other packaging material.
