Regarding "Change Attitude, Not Drinking Age" (Views, Oct. 11):
Community columnist Meg Wagner nailed it. Being a sophomore in high school, I completely understand where she is coming from. I've been raised almost the same way as her, and I've grown into the mindset of not caring for the stuff.
Even though I'm still far too young and innocent to be going to parties serving alcohol (a 15-year-old not drinking - what a loser!), I know people the same age as me who have. The problem is exactly as Meg stated: our attitude and interaction towards it.
The culture observed today in our music and television makes drinking necessary to any teen who wishes to fit in. We think drinking is our only gateway to social acceptance.
If only the dairy industry would launch a campaign showing teens how cool it is to drink milk!
