Firefighters in Dunedin found and shut off a gas leak at Mease Dunedin Hospital this morning before any patients had to be evacuated.
Workers smelled gas in the operating room suites on the second floor of the hospital at 602 Main St. about 7:50 a.m.
Firefighters from the Dunedin Fire Department found the gas coming from a boiler in a third-floor equipment room. The line to the boiler was shut off, the fire department said.
The operating rooms, which had no surgeries in progress, were evacuated and the area ventilated.
