Police: Woman Left Child In Car While She Went To Bar

Deputies arrested a 29-year-old woman on child neglect charges early this morning after finding a 2-year-old boy sleeping in her car outside a bar.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office charged Caroline Kreitz of Largo with child neglect. The boy who was in her care was not harmed.

Customers at the Club 54 bar saw the child sleeping in the back seat of a white Toyota four-door car with the windows rolled up and doors locked. Security workers at the bar called the sheriff's office about 1 a.m.

Deputies found Kreitz in the bar at 2595 54th Ave. N. She told them she had been there only about 20 minutes and was there to meet a friend who owed her money, the sheriff's office said.

However customers in the bar told deputies Kreitz was in the bar about an hour and had bought drinks, the sheriff's office said. The boy was placed in the custody of sheriff's child protection investigators.

Kreitz is at the Pinellas County Jail under a $2,000 bond.
