BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Charles Pierre rushed for 192 yards and two touchdowns to lead Florida Atlantic to a 24-20 victory over Western Kentucky on Saturday night.
Pierre averaged 8 yards a carry on his 24 attempts and scored on a school-record 74-yard touchdown run to cut Western Kentucky's lead to 17-14 with 6:38 left in the second quarter. Pierre also scored on an 8-yard run early in the second quarter.
The Owls (2-5) racked up 399 yards of offense, 225 yards coming on the ground. The Hilltoppers (2-6) totaled 317, with 240 on the ground.
The teams combined for 35 points in the second quarter, with Florida Atlantic taking a 21-17 lead into halftime.
Tanner Stewart's 22-yard field goal cut the lead to 21-20 with 8:22 remaining in the third quarter, but Warley Leroy kicked a 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give Florida Atlantic a 24-20 lead with 11:12 remaining.
Tyrell Hayden paced Western Kentucky with 84 yards on 10 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run.
Rusty Smith went 15-for-23 for 174 yards and a touchdown for Florida Atlantic.
David Wolke and Dexter Taylor combined to go 9-for-17 for 77 yards and an interception for WKU.

TROY, Ala. - Levi Brown and Jerrel Jernigan each scored two touchdowns to help Troy beat Florida International.
Brown completed 18 of 28 passes for 253 yards with two touchdowns in his first start for the Trojans (4-2, 3-0 Sun Belt Conference), which moved into a first-place tie with UL-Lafayette in the conference. Jernigan added 131 yards receiving and a touchdown, rushed for 88 yards on 10 carries and completed his only pass for a 2-yard touchdown.
Paul McCall completed 22 of 33 passes for 266 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Golden Panthers (3-4, 2-1), which saw its three-game winning streak snapped.
McCall's 8-yard touchdown pass to Junior Mertile cut the Trojans' lead to 13-9 at the end of the first and, after Troy's Sam Glusman hit field goals of 20 and 44 yards, Daunte Owens' 1-yard run left the Golden Panthers trailing 19-16 at halftime.
But Jernigan's 2-yard pass to Justin Bray in the third and Dan Parker's 1-yard rush in the fourth put the game out of reach.

BATON ROUGE, La. - Curtis Pulley accounted for four touchdowns to help Florida A&M beat Southern.
Pulley completed 13 of 17 pass for 172 yards and an interception for the Rattlers (5-2). He also rushed for 118 yards on the ground on 15 attempts.
The Jaguars (4-3) took a 35-31 lead in the third quarter Bryant Lee scored on a 2-yard run. But LeRoy Vann later scored on a 66-yard punt return to give Florida A&M a 38-35 lead with 1:47 left in the third.
Pulley caught a 41-yard touchdown from Kevin Elliott to push the Rattlers' lead to 45-35 in the fourth.
