Republican John Legg is seeking a third term representing state House District 46, which covers coastal Pasco County.
Legg, 33, a teacher and founder of Pasco County's first charter school, faces Democrat Ron Rice and independent John Ubele.
"We need to create jobs in our communities throughout Florida," said the New Port Richey incumbent. "Underneath that is homeowners insurance. We were fortunate in Pasco to pass legislation that gave small relief to homeowners insurance, but we need to do more."
Rice has worked for the city of Clearwater for eight years and is seeking his first public office. He also cited homeowners insurance and jobs as top priorities.
"We need more technological jobs," he said. "I think the technological corridors they've developed in North Carolina is an example of something we could do down here."
Ubele, 30, is a white separatist who in 2006 unsuccessfully ran for the Pasco County Mosquito Control Board. On his campaign Web site, Ubele pledges to combat homelessness and lower taxes.
