A Hillsborough County middle school teacher was among 13 people netted in a weekend prostitution sting in Polk County.
Richard Kemper of Lithia was arrested Friday on a charge of soliciting and battery. He offered an undercover detective $150 for sex, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Kemper has been a teacher at Randall Middle School for about 3 1/2 years, said Hillsborough County schools spokesman Steve Hegarty.
In similar cases, teachers have been told not to report to work and have been suspended with pay until the school board takes action, Hegarty said.
Only the school board can suspend a teacher without pay, he said.
The sheriff's office used Craigslist, an online classifieds Web site, to set up the prostitution sting.
The sting, which ran from Thursday through Saturday, targeted men who used the site to look for sex and was run out of a Winter Haven house.
