TAMPA - A Tampa man, who police say stabbed his live-in girlfriend eight times, was arrested Sunday night.
Officers charged Derick Deravil with attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He also was charged with violating his probation.
Officers found Deravil, 22, of Tampa, hiding in the shower at 6906 N. 21St St. He was arrested without incident.
The stabbing occurred Oct. 11 at 8:59 a.m.
He and his girlfriend argued outside their apartment, and it escalated when he got a knife and started cutting and stabbing her "about the head, face, arms and hands," a Tampa police report states.
Neighbors later identified Deravil as the person who stabbed his girlfriend.
Deravil left the scene in a Dodge Caravan, and the girlfriend, Larissa Bryant, was taken to Tampa General Hospital, police say. Details on her condition aren't immediately available.
Deravil remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail had not been set.
