As early voting began today, Pasco County residents experienced long lines at many of the seven early voting locations around the county. At some locations, such as the New River Library in Wesley Chapel near Zephyrhills, the line was out the door.
"[Turnout] is way higher than anyone anticipated," Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley said.
About 30,000 Pasco County residents voted early in 2004 and Corley said he expects to top that number this year.
"Early voting has been more and more popular each and every time," he said.
There was a minor glitch at at least one location when ballots couldn't be printed, but poll workers switched to a backup system and it was taken care of in about five minutes, Corley said. For early voting, Pasco uses a ballot-on-demand system that prints out a ballot when a voter signs in.

Early voting is 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m, to 5 p.m. Saturday. Early voting ends Nov. 1.
Locations are:
1. East Pasco Government Center, 14236 Sixth St., Dade City;
2. West Pasco Government Center, 7530 Little Road, Suite 110, New Port Richey;
3. Central Pasco Professional Center, 4111 Land O' Lakes Blvd, Room 105,
Land O' Lakes;
4. Village Market of Wesley Chapel, 5325 Village Market (State Road 54 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard),
