Motorist Locates Missing Man, 66 In Polk

LAKELAND - A missing 66-year-old has been found unharmed and returned to his family.

Eugene Jones was found at about 9:15 p.m. Monday in the Kathleen and Griffin Road area of north Lakeland by a man who saw signs along Interstate 4 alerting motorists to Jones being missing.

Richard Manser of Land O' Lakes saw a vehicle matching the description of Jones' 1997 white Isuzu. Manser followed the car and called authorities about their location. When Jones stopped his vehicle, Manser stopped and stayed with him until deputies arrived.

"Mr. Jones will be with his family tonight because a concerned citizen was attentive to the [Silver] Alert," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
