ST. PETERSBURG - Emily Seaman has worn her Devil Rays shirt through the good and bad. And at the Pier on Monday, it was very good.
"It's a blast. It's unreal," Seaman said. "I had faith in them, but you don't know how cool it is until you get here."
Seaman was one of the hundreds who came to celebrate the Rays' climb from baseball's basement to the World Series.
Many, like Seaman, were soaking in the glory after years of being an also-ran.
"I still have my seat cushion from the first year; the first game," said Rodney Lucas. "We were
destined to get this going."
The Pier took on a carnival atmosphere, lit up in Rays blue and covered in streamers. There were jugglers, bands and fans getting temporary tattoos and Ray Hawks.
"I think it's fabulous," said Cindy Boyd, a longtime Rays fan. "I am so excited to be here. I think it is about time for St. Pete."
"Everything is just fabulous."
