The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and Amscot International will host a bicycle helmet giveaway Thursday in Largo to promote child safety and to help families in need.
More than 200 free bike helmets will be available from 6 to 10 a.m. at Amscot at 11152 Starkey Road, Largo. Amscot donated the helmets and deputies will distribute them to families who request them for their children on a first-come, first-served basis.
The helmets will also be given away at local preschools, day care centers and elementary schools. Those who want a helmet need only provide a size: small, medium or large.
This is the second year the sheriff's office has partnered with Amscot to distribute bicycle helmets. For information, call the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200.
