Grothe: Louisville Is Really Fast

TAMPA - One area USF usually has an advantage against its opposition is speed. But when the No. 14 Bulls play at Louisville on Saturday, QB Matt Grothe believes that advantage won't be as noticeable.

"Louisville is fast. They are probably the fastest team that we have played so far," Grothe said. "They have some big guys up front. They can move. They do a good job of coming with some zone blitzes and man blitzes. We know that we have to pick up some things, and get after them early."

HARD WORKER: The potential has always been there for DE Jarriett Buie. And while academics and a broken foot derailed his early years, the senior never stopped working to become a trusted contributor.

"I bring a worker's mentality. I don't vocalize. I don't say too many things," said Buie, whose 2.5 sacks have surpassed his career total (two) entering the season. "I'm the one that kind of plays a lot, so what I try to do is show them when we go out we need to take care of business. Even though I don't get all the accolades that a lot of other people get, I still go out there and work hard because hard work will pay off."

ODDS AND ENDS: Captains for this week are LBs Brouce Mompremier and Tyrone McKenzie, WR Marcus Edwards and C Jake Griffin. ... Coach Jim Leavitt said he is leaning toward using Maikon Bonani on kickoffs instead of Justin Teachey.
