Man Arrested In New Port Richey Rape

NEW PORT RICHEY - A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night, accused of beating and raping a woman.

At 7 a.m. Tuesday, New Port Richey police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance that had begun in the early morning hours when Jason Taylor, of 5608 LaSalle Court, hit the woman several times and choked her, police said.

Taylor knocked down the woman's 6-year-old son when he tried to intervene, according to police.

The woman was raped after unknowingly taking a drug that knocked her unconscious, Lt. Jeffery Harrington said.

The woman awoke Tuesday morning on her living room floor, naked from the waist down, according to an arrest affidavit. Taylor lay naked asleep next to her, and there were sex toys and pornographic movies strewn across the floor, the affidavit said. The woman also found photographs of herself naked and unconscious.

Taylor attempted to leave with three girls of toddler age but knocked over their stroller, causing them to fall to the ground, police said.

Police said they arrested Taylor shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday at his home.

Taylor was being held without bail Wednesday at the Land O' Lakes Jail on charges of sexual battery, battery by strangulation, tampering with a witness and four counts of child abuse.

The children and mother did not require hospitalization, police said.
