NEW PORT RICHEY A 37-year-old Holiday man was arrested today by the Florida Highway Patrol, accused of causing a wreck that killed a woman in February.
Ronald Lee Gramling, 2415 San Luis Road, was arrested on felony charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. He was also cited for running a red light, careless driving, and not wearing a seatbelt in the Feb. 1 crash.
The charges stem from a midday crash during which Gramling was driving a 2003 Land Rover Discovery SUV south on Little Road. Denise Anne Dennis, 35, of Holiday, was driving a Kia Sedona van north and was preparing to turn left onto King Helie Boulevard.
As the two vehicles approached each other shortly after 11 a.m., Gramling veered sharply to the center of the road, traveled over the raised concrete median, striking Dennis' vehicle head-on, according to the highway patrol. She was killed instantly.
Gramling's SUV overturned and he was ejected, causing serious injuries.
Gramling's blood alcohol level was .089, just over the limit in which state law presumes impairment, according to the highway patrol.
Gramling was still being booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail tonight.
