A 22-year-old man and a teenager were arrested by Pasco deputies Thursday in connection with a shooting Oct. 18.
Detectives say Norman Geronimo "Momo" Bravo, 22, and 17-year-old Nicholas Genaro Harold Fusco were driving on Davista Avenue when they got into a dispute with a group standing in the road at about 2 a.m.
At some point, Bravo fired a single shot out of the car into the crowd, striking 43-year-old Johnny Horton in the arm, according to a sheriff's office report. A .22-caliber bullet tore through Horton's arm, and he was later treated at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital.
The teen was driving the car, reports state.
In a written statement Bravo provided to detectives, he told them he and Fusco were driving up the street where several drunken men were blocking traffic. Fusco flashed his car's high beams at them and the men started throwing beer bottles at the vehicle, according to Bravo's written account.
Bravo got out of the car, recognizing one of the men, according to the report, and then Fusco followed, and the confrontation became physical with "a number of blows" thrown. The two young men then got back in the car and drove away to Bravo's home where they "passed out."
Detectives, however, believed the witnesses' story about Bravo shooting Horton through the arm.
Both Bravo, of 10227 Jungle St., and Fusco, now face charges of aggravated battery with a fire arm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
Detectives say Bravo is a member of the Sur 13 gang and a gang prosecutor is assigned to the case. If Bravo is convicted as charged he could face gang-enhancement penalties, which are used to crack down on any crime thought to be gang-related.
He was being held at the Land O' Lakes Jail on Friday with bail set at $20,000.
