Land O' Lakes, Wiregrass Ranch Repeat As SAC Swim Champs

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Things went pretty much as expected at the Sunshine Athletic Conference swimming championships at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center on Saturday.

Land O' Lakes boys and Wiregrass Ranch girls successfully defended their SAC titles. The Gators dominated the boys side, scoring in all 12 events and setting three conference records. They totaled 112 points, far ahead of second-place Pasco (53.5).

Wiregrass Ranch won seven of the 12 events to score 83.5 points, 20 more than runnerup Land O' Lakes (63.5)

Sunlake's Brad Morrison, who swam for Land O' Lakes in his freshman and sophomore years, won two events (200 free, 100 back) -- both in SAC record times. The other double winner of individual events was Mchael Centanni of Gulf, who won the 50 free and 100 free. His 100 free time of 50.57 is a SAC record.

Land O' Lakes swimmers Eric Singer, Derrick Mysels, Sean Lawson and Curt Hilgenberg) set SAC records in the 200 medley relay (1:48.81) and the 400 free relay (3:31.57).

There were no records set on the girls side and Wiregrass Ranch had the only double winner as Nicholette Clark won the 200 free and 500 free. Wiregrass Ranch won the final five events and won all three relays.
