The Shops at Wiregrass don't officially open for almost a week. But for savvy customers, there are some early deals before then.
Both Dillard's and Macy's are already in a "soft opening" phase, as they fill out their shelves and make finishing touches.
Both stores plan grand openings today, trying to get a few extra days of revenue leading into what's expected to be a terrible holiday selling season.
Dillard's plans a treasure hunt for early customers, with extra discounts on products.
For Macy's, the opening day at Wiregrass is especially important because it comes during the official 150th birthday celebration of the Macy's company. At 9:45 a.m., there is an official opening party, and the first 150 customers will get a Macy's gift card worth $10, $150 or $500.
This is the eighth Macy's in the Tampa Bay market.
The rest of the 800,000-square-foot mall officially opens October 30, with a style of an old-fashioned downtown, with building fronts of mixed heights, as if the stores were added over time.
