If Martin Luther King really meant that a person should be judged by character and not by color, he must be turning in his grave at the prospect of people voting for (or against) a president because of color.
Many people believe blacks will vote for Obama out of race loyalty and that many non-blacks will vote for him because they think it will show progress for America. Both reasons are understandable, but voting because of race violates King's dream, doesn't it, even if race is not the "dominant" factor, as Colin Powell said about his support for Obama?
Obama certainly may be a person of character and may be the best candidate, but if race is a factor at all, that's not what King had in mind when he marched for equal justice and opportunity for all Americans.
