TAMPA - The week will begin with a crisp, fall feel but could become wintery by Wednesday morning, which could see record-low temperatures.
Dry, cool air started draining into Florida Sunday night, and a second cool front is due Monday.
By Wednesday morning, forecasters with the National Weather Service say the low could drop to about 42 at Tampa International Airport. If that forecast holds, it would easily break the Oct. 29 record of 44 degrees, set in 1910.
That would be the coldest it's been at TIA since Valentine's Day, when it was 39. It hasn't been 42 or lower since.
Inland and to the north, temperatures could fall into the 30s by Wednesday morning. The temperature in Brooksville is forecast to hit 36.
With the reinforcement of today's cool front, Tuesday morning temperatures could be in the 40s.
During the day Tuesday, the weather service does not expect the afternoon high to reach 70 - temperatures more like the height of winter in January and February.
By Thursday, things should start warming again to a high of nearly 80 on Saturday.
