An argument about a $20 loan led a Lakeland man to strike a person four times on the right leg with a piece of steel rebar, Tampa police say.
Officers arrested Lorenzo Adams on Sunday following the 5 a.m. attack Friday in the 1600 block of North Marion Street.
Adams wasn't involved in the argument over the loan, but he yelled at the victim to go somewhere else to argue and later hit him from behind with the rebar, according to an arrest report. Adams told an officer he did tell the people to leave and argue elsewhere and said someone else struck the victim with the rebar.
The victim had bruising and swelling but refused medical attention, the report states.
Adams, 54, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $7,500.
