Pinellas County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man they say robbed a Palm Harbor bank this morning dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and a Panama-style hat.
At 10:49 a.m., the man went to the Bank of America at 4000 Lake St. George Drive, showed the teller a gun and demanded money, deputies say. The man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in a green import sedan, possibly a 2000 or 2001 Mazda with dark tinted windows, the sheriff's office said.
Witnesses told deputies that a dye-pack in the money bag went off in the car as the man drove away. A portion of the money was recovered near the bank, deputies say.
The man is described as Hispanic or Pacific Islander, with a dark complexion, about 6-feet-1-inches tall, heavy set with a sturdy build. He was last seen wearing a button-up Hawaiian shirt, long pants and a Panama-style hat with a band around it.
Anyone with information can call Detective Nicholas Bedy at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
