Manatee County sheriff's detectives are trying to identify a man whose body was found this afternoon at a palm tree farm in Palmetto.
A worker at the tree farm on the 2800 block of 10th Street West found the body about 1 p.m., the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said. The body had signs of trauma, and detectives have ruled the case a homicide.
The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
Two large trash bags covered each end of the body, which was found about 400 feet south of 10th Street, detectives say.
The man is described as black, in his 20s or 30s, the sheriff's office said. Detectives say the man was slain sometime in the past 24 to 36 hours.
