BRANDON - A group of students from Durant High School will be holding a benefit tonight for Summer Moll, the 4-year-old who survived a head-on crash on the Selmon Crosstown Expressway that killed her mother.

Tammy Rosian, the girl's grandmother, said they had hoped Summer would be able to attend the benefit, but she was readmitted to Tampa General Hospital on Tuesday night with a fever.

"She has been doing wonderful," Rosian said. "But she still needs prayers; she has a long recovery."

The benefit will be at Beef O' Brady's, 2561 E. State Road 60 in Valrico, between 5 and 9 p.m. Rosian said 20 percent of the bills will go to Summer's trust fund.

The sponsors are Success 101, a motivational group at Durant.

"I know the kids will be wonderful," Rosian said.

Summer was injured in the Sept. 10 crash that killed her mother, Jennifer O'Boyle, 24.

Cheryl Maria Riemann, 25, of Ruskin is charged with DUI manslaughter in the wreck. Investigators say Riemann was driving the wrong way on the lower portion of the expressway just east of the 78th Street toll plaza. Her blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the level at which Florida law presumes intoxication, investigators say. She remains in Orient Road Jail with no bail set.

Summer has undergone multiple operations and has casts on both arms, a brace on her neck, a plate in head and pins in both legs.

She is expected to begin an in-hospital rehabilitation program for at least three weeks in November. Rosian said dates would be determined at a Nov. 20 evaluation.

Rosian and her husband, Arthur, won temporary custody of Summer this month. Her father, Joshua Adam Moll, is also seeking custody. He moved from Texas the day after the crash.

Rosian is optimistic a settlement can be reached with the family keeping custody but with Moll taking an active roll in Summer's life.

"We are trying to work it out," she said.

A trust has been established for the child through the office of Mac Greco III, Rosian's attorney. Anyone wishing to donate can mail checks payable to Tammy Rosian as trustee of the Summer Moll trust to his office at 501 N. Morgan St., Suite 200, Tampa FL 33602.
