Patrol: St. Pete Woman Driving 110 mph Dies In Crash

Nichole R. Cox, a 25-year-old St. Petersburg woman, died this morning in a high-speed crash in Ruskin, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Cox was southbound on U.S. 41 near 15th Avenue Northwest about 4:45 a.m. when she approached a curve at about 110 mph and lost control of a 2002 Acura sedan, troopers said.
The car slid off the right side of the road, struck a palm tree, overturned and landed on its roof in a ditch, troopers said.
Troopers closed the roadway around the crash for about two hours to investigate the wreck.
