Antonio Tyrill Carr was arrested Thursday and charged with stabbing a Tampa police officer.
Carr, 20, of Tampa, stabbed Officer Ryan Culbertson in July at North Boulevard Homes, police say. The officer has since returned to work.
Carr was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
The night Culbertson was stabbed, he was leaving a disturbance call at North Boulevard Homes when he tried breaking up another disturbance at Oregon Avenue and Chestnut Street.
"While arresting one suspect, another suspect came from behind and stabbed the officer in the neck with a sharp object," a Tampa police news release states. "When backup officers arrived on scene, they found Officer Culbertson bleeding from the neck. He was dazed and had trouble recalling the incident."
Culbertson suffered a broken jaw and needed 10 stitches to his neck. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
A witness identified Carr on Thursday as the attacker.
