TAMPA - A Tampa woman under the influence of prescription medication crashed a minivan with four children inside, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies arrested Kelly Leigh Cox at 6:51 p.m. Monday.
She was charged with four counts of child neglect and one count of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash.
Cox's 2003 Dodge minivan struck a parked car at Boulevard and Fletcher Avenue, and she left the scene at 5:47 p.m. Monday, a criminal arrest affidavit states. Her blood-alcohol level was .000, and she provided deputies a urine sample.
When questioned, Cox "had extremely slurred speech and was very unsteady on her feet," the affidavit states.
The children's ages and conditions were not included in the affidavit.
A report was not available today.
She remained in Orient Road Jail today. Her bail was set at $30,750.
