CLEARWATER - Two Clearwater teenagers have been arrested on charges they robbed a man who thought he was selling the pair a video gaming system, police said.
Jean Andrade, 17, of 2279 Willow Tree Trail, and Santos Jorel Gomez, 18, of 2690 Drew St., No. 815, have been charged with armed robbery, said Elizabeth Daly-Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
A 2005 Honda Civic and two pellet guns were seized as part of the investigation, she said.
Andrade and Gomez had made arrangements to meet Johnathan Bronson, 18, in a parking lot Monday night so Bronson could sell them his XBox, which he had advertised on craigslist online, Daly-Watts said.
After Andrade confirmed the XBox worked in the lot at 27001 U.S. 19, he pulled a gun and took the game system in the 10:19 p.m. robbery, Daly-Watts said. Then he and Gomez took off in the Honda, she said.
Bronson called police and gave them a description of the car. Soon afterward, a Clearwater police officer spotted the Honda on Belcher Road and pulled the car over, Daly-Watts said. Andrade was inside and was arrested; Gomez, whom Andrade had dropped off before the traffic stop, was arrested this morning.
The XBox along with two pellet guns were in the car, Daly-Watts said.
