CLEARWATER - CLEARWATER A fire of undetermined origin caused about $80,000 in damage to a single-story home this afternoon. No one was there at the time and no one was injured, according to Clearwater Fire & Rescue officials.
The home at 5 S. Meteor Ave., is owned by Sharon Bogdanos, 39, fire officials said. Firefighters arrived just after 3 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the home. Flames were visible in the garage, officials said.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, officials said. Bogdanos was contacted and returned home while firefighters were still there.
Fire damage was limited to the garage and attic but smoke caused damage to the rest of the house. The structure is uninhabitable and the American Red Cross has arranged lodging for the homeowner, officials said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation tonight.
