TAMPA -
An independent review commission designed to examine the inner workings of Hillsborough County's jails has pushed back the date it plans to release its final report.
The report, originally slated to be released today, will be released at 10 a.m. Sept. 10, commission Chairman James D. Sewell said today. Sewell said the report will be thorough but more time was necessary to complete it.
Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee created the commission after allegations of jail abuse came out. On Jan. 29, Brian Sterner was arrested on a traffic-related warrant and taken to Orient Road Jail. While he was searched by Charlette Marshall-Jones, a surveillance camera recorded her grabbing the back of the wheelchair and dumping him to the floor.
