Published: September 2, 2008

NEW PORT RICHEY - The number of women accusing a doctor of fondling them during examinations continues to rise.

Tuesday, a woman filed a lawsuit against Gunwant Dhaliwal, accusing him of touching her breasts during an examination on Oct. 5, 2006.

The woman's lawsuit brings the number of active claims against Dhaliwal and his Gulf View Walk-in Clinics to four.

"When you've got women who don't know each other all making the exact same allegation, I think that speaks volumes as to what the truth is," said Michael Feiner, the four plaintiffs' attorney.

The Tampa Tribune is withholding the plaintiffs' names because of the nature of the allegations.

Dhaliwal, 47, of Trinity, declined to comment and referred questions to his attorney, Joseph Tsombanidis.

Tsombanidis couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday. Both have previously denied the allegations.

The civil claims against Dhaliwal aren't the only problems he faces. In June, the state attorney's office charged him with two counts of misdemeanor battery stemming from incidents in February and May 2007, in which women accused him of grabbing their breasts.

The women named in the criminal cases are two of the four suing Dhaliwal in civil court.

Dhaliwal operates the Gulf View Walk-in Clinics in New Port Richey, Spring Hill and Holiday.

He is board-certified in internal medicine and opened his practice in 1993. State records list his license as active and show no disciplinary record.

Dhaliwal also holds staff privileges at hospitals in Hudson, Spring Hill and Tarpon Springs.
