Manatee Man, 71, Charged With Sexual Battery Of Child

A 71-year-old Manatee County man sexually battered a 7-year-old he babysat, Manatee County deputies say.

Deputies have arrested Donald E. Downs, of 3631 77th Terrace E., South Manatee County.

They say Downs was an acquaintance of the child's family and that between July 4 and July 31, Downs would commit sexual acts on the child as the child napped.

The child told investigators, and Downs was charged with sexual battery.
