CLEARWATER - A bailiff has been suspended for, among other things, falling asleep during court proceedings, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office memorandum released this morning.
Deputy Philip Morrison, 42, a bailiff at the criminal courthouse complex on 49th Street, is scheduled to begin a seven-day suspension today. If Morrison participates in an employee assistance program, the suspension will be reduced to four days, the memo states.
On June 3 and May 9, judges saw Morrison sleeping during their court proceedings, the memorandum states. Morrison also was seen sleeping at other locations in the court complex, the memorandum states.
In addition, on May 20, Morrison left the complex without the permission of a supervisor, the memo states.
