A 69-year-old Dunedin woman found floating face down near Honeymoon Island Beach on Thursday night has died.
Suzanne Kunis was pulled from the water and taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital. She was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m., Pinellas County deputies said.
Kunis, who spent the afternoon at the beach with her husband and friends, went swimming about 7 p.m., according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release. Witnesses said she was in waist-deep water.
Deputies say she may have experienced a medical emergency that caused her to collapse while in the water.
"Her husband, Mark Farber, next saw her floating face down and went to her rescue," the release states. "CPR was initiated until arriving paramedics took over."
An investigation is ongoing.
