CLEARWATER - A bailiff has been suspended for, among other things, falling asleep during court proceedings, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office memorandum released Wednesday morning.
Deputy Philip Morrison, 42, a bailiff at the criminal courthouse complex on 49th Street, is scheduled to begin a seven-day suspension today. If Morrison participates in an employee assistance program, the suspension will be reduced to four days, the memo stated.
On June 3 and May 9, judges saw Morrison sleeping during their court proceedings, the memorandum said. Morrison also was seen sleeping at other locations in the court complex, according to the memo.
It also said that on May 20, Morrison left the complex without permission of a supervisor.
