TAMPA - Follow the yellow brick road to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center for community auditions for the national tour of "The Wizard of Oz."
TBPAC is looking for a local group of 12 children, plus two alternates, to perform as Munchkins during the Tampa tour stop Oct. 14-19, the Center announced recently.
Auditions take place at TBPAC at 9 a.m. Sept. 13. Groups must pre-register online at www.wizardofozontour.com.
Groups auditioning must consist of children ages 8 to 13, who are less than five feet tall. Performers should be trained singers and dancers with enthusiastic personalities.
Performance teams must be from an existing area dance school, choir or theater group. Individual students or partial groups will not be allowed to audition.
"Wizard of Oz" performances are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday; at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $38.50 and are available by calling (813) 229-7827.
