•Although Earl Garcia teams are traditionally run-oriented, during his five seasons as Gaither's head coach, Garcia's Cowboys typically led the county in passing.

•Hillsborough had 11 players sign college football scholarships last season, including six that signed for the same community college in Northern California.

•In the 14 seasons Garcia coached between 1993 and 2006, the Terriers posted five undefeated regular seasons, won 10 district titles to earn playoff berths and reached the state championship game in 1996.

•Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar not only has more than a dozen Division I college football scholarship offers, but also he is being recruited by Florida State, LSU, UCLA and Georgia solely as a track athlete.
