THE DIFFERENCE: Lennard (0-1) gained more than twice as many yards in the first half, but lost three fumbles, and senior Danny Miron missed a 36-yard field goal on the Longhorns' opening drive in the third quarter. That kept King (1-0) in the game until Keith Graham's go-ahead 23-yard touchdown pass to Reese Sturgis with 2:29 left in the game.
GAME NOTES: King struck first on a 10-yard TD run by quarterback Keith Graham, but Lennard's Jamar Stevens blocked the point-after attempt … Lennard took a 7-6 lead into halftime after a 64-yard TD pass from Andrew Burdick to Brandon Stephens. Lennard scored on the first play of the fourth quarter, on a 4-yard pass from Burdick to Demyco Winston. The Lions answered with two scores, a 5-yard run by Graham, and the game-clinching play to Sturgis.
STAT OF THE GAME: New King coach Alvin Davis earned his first win, and the Lions are halfway to their win total from last year, when they finished 2-8.
