Artemis Woman Personal Groomer

Available at Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, artemiswoman.com, or by calling 1-877-212-1560; retails for $14.99.

The Pitch: "The Artemis Woman Personal Groomer is a micro-precision trimmer that simply and gently removes unwanted hair, achieving a smooth, soft complexion. It can be safely used on the face, eyebrows, arms, bikini line and anywhere unexpected hair grows."

The Skinny: Nothing can ruin a put-together look like bushy eyebrows, a fuzzy upper lip or (gasp!) chin hair, especially when you're a woman. But what if you happen to be between wax appointments, or you just don't do wax? Plucking can be just as painful, not to mention time-consuming. Artemis has introduced a nifty little gadget you'll want to keep handy for all your unwanted hair emergencies. The Personal Groomer is small, sleek and sooo easy to use. It fits in your hand like a pen. Remove the cap, flip the tiny switch and say adios to unwanted hair in seconds. No redness, razor bumps, nicks or cuts. Plus, you don't need any shaving cream or water. You won't want to travel without it. It also does a great job of trimming the hair at the nape of your neck (or hubby's) between hair appointments.

The Artemis groomer operates on a single AA battery, and because it's so small, you can carry it anywhere. It comes with a cleaning brush and a two-sided shaping comb that's perfect for unruly brows. It will be available at mass-market retailers starting in September.

DryMax Hot Weather Running Socks

Available for $16 at www.zombierunner.com

The Pitch: "Drymax Hot Weather Running socks keep feet dry and prevent hot spots and blisters because they are made using the patented Blister Guard system."

The skinny: These socks are far thicker than other running socks, yet definitely pull moisture away from feet. They stood up to the moisture tests during short morning jogs as well as daylong sneaker-wearing sessions in 90-degree heat. The only downside: The thick socks get warm after a few hours.

Karen Neuburger KN Racer Stripe Socks

The pitch: "KN cool racer stripe socks made with special moisture control yarn. You will love the soft feel and the style of these socks."

Available for $6.50 at Dillard's or www.karenneuburger.com

The skinny: They're cute and comfy, something to be expected from Karen Neuburger products. And yes, they keep your feet cool. They aren't, however, the best choice for longer hot-weather workouts. The wicking material pulls moisture only slightly. These socks are best for a trip to the gym or an outdoor picnic. If you're training for a marathon and plan to run for four hours at a time, invest in something else.
