Deputies: Gang Member's Bullet Hits Plant City Home

A gang member fired a bullet into the Plant City home of a 67-year-old man early Sunday, Hillsborough County deputies said.

Henry Manriquez Jr. said he was aiming at someone who fired a bullet at him, and he missed the intended target, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Manriquez, of 2208 Clemons Road in Plant City, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The home he fired at is at 2109 Clemons Road, deputies said.

The shooting was a direct result of gang activity, a criminal arrest affidavit states. Deputies said Manriquez is a member of the Sur 13 gang.

Manriquez remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $7,500.
