A Tampa motorcyclist faces several charges after leading law enforcement officials on a half-hour chase through Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Capt. Cindy Williams said she tried to pull over Robert Glenn Moir, 21, after seeing him speeding west on Interstate 4 near Lakeland about 10:15 a.m. today. Moir accelerated, reaching speeds above 120 mph, weaving in and out of traffic, from I-4 to U.S. 98 to State Road 39 and onto Dormany Road, Sgt. Steve Gaskins said.
Williams radioed for backup, and a Florida Highway Patrol airplane and more patrol cars joined the chase. A half-hour later, Moir drove behind a home on Dormany Road to evade troopers and was captured, Gaskins said.
No one was injured, investigators said.
Moir surrendered peacefully. He is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and driving without a motorcycle endorsement.
