North Port Child Drowns; Baby Sitter Arrested

NORTH PORT - Police arrested Marty Dorsch, 20, on Tuesday after the 3-year-old she was reportedly babysitting drowned in her home's swimming pool.
According to North Port police, Brendyn Law was pronounced dead at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon. Dorsch reportedly fell asleep while she and Law were watching television in her bedroom. While she slept, Law left the room and began playing around the swimming pool, throwing items taken from the house into the water, police said.
Law was found floating in the pool by Dorsch's grandfather, who pulled the child from the water. Police attempted to resuscitate Law at the scene.
Dorsch is in Sarasota County Jail without bond facing one count of felony child neglect.
