TAMPA - Hillsborough County deputies have identified a man struck by a car Sunday in Dover: He is Juan A. Perez, 20, of Hillsborough County.
A vehicle driven by Marcos Alfonzo Ramirez, 21, struck Perez about 2:20 a.m. near Bethlehem and Haynes roads, the sheriff's office said. The pedestrian was taken by medical helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Perez had no identification on him, deputies said.
Deputies contacted several people and eventually were able to find his brother, who lives in North Carolina.
Ramirez left the scene of the crash and was arrested at his home, 3841 Bethlehem Road, No. 9, deputies said. He is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury and driving without a valid driver's license. He was taken to Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $4,000.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on Ramirez, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Jail Web site.
