Tampa Schoolteacher Charged With Domestic Battery

TAMPA - A Robles Elementary School teacher is being held at Orient Road Jail today, accused of striking and shoving his wife, records show.

Christopher Roy Asberry, 27, of Riverview, is charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. He is being held without bail, jail records show.

According to an affidavit, Asberry argued with his wife Thursday evening, struck her on the arms and pushed her to the floor.

Hillsborough County School District spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said that because Asberry is charged with a misdemeanor and is not accused of harming a student, he faces no disciplinary action and is free to return to work.

School records show Asberry is a resource teacher, doing administrative work at the school, which is at 4405 E. Sligh Ave. He has worked for the school district since September 2004.
